Marathons

I set out to run 1 marathon before I turned 30...seemed like an impossible task.
Impossible because I would train and train and train but for some reason every time I got to the 5th week of training I would get an unbelievably excrusiating pain in my left knee. I'd lay off and not run for a few days and try again...after that, I couldn't go farther than a couple blocks before the pain began.
Well, 3 years after my initial attempt and now running really low on time to meet my goal, I was given a Physical Therapist's name from a friend. I wasn't really keen on calling her because I always was under the assumption that physical therapy was for people who broke bones or had a stroke or something along those lines...but given the options -I called and made an appointment.
I am soooo very thankful I did...because of my physical therapy sessions (which by the way were very painful) I completed the Chicago Marathon, Oct. 22, 2006.
There was no stopping me now...I changed my goal to 3!!!
It's now October 2007 and I have completed my goal!
I ran 3 marathons in less than 1 year and am smiling because I don't turn 30 till March of 2008!
I will take some time off of training...I am burnt out, but I do plan on doing another marathon in the fall of 2008.
So, the point of my rambling...Physical Therapy ROCKS...and goals can be accomplished! :-)
